Carmel Martial Arts LLC
Carmel Martial Arts LLC focuses on teaching its students much more. Martial arts are, in some respects, a way of life. They do not mean that certain individuals earn a living from being in matches or teaching. Martial arts is a way of life because it practices mindfulness. Once you practice a strike, a throw, or an exercise, the goal is to understand your body and be one with the movement. Eventually, the goal is to, in time, be completely present at the moment and learn how to bring out that amount of centeredness when you need it.
Their instructors are expertly trained, martial artists and experienced teachers. It does not matter what level a person has achieved, there is always more knowledge to gain and ways to improve one’s capabilities. That is why their instructors continue to educate themselves in their martial art traditions. They’re proud of the courses they provide the people of Indianapolis and they welcome you to try one to see why Higginbotham’s Ryukyu Dojo is the right choice for martial arts professionals.

Sensokan Dojo Indianapolis Martial Arts
Sensokan Dojo Indianapolis Martial Arts after studying various Japanese martial arts and disciplines in the late 1960s. Richard Behrens Shihan felt that something was missing. Every martial art had its benefits. Several concentrated on grappling, some on toe-toe fighting, some on protrusions or throws, etc. He believed that if you mixed some of these forms, you could come out with one all-encompassing martial art. Other than that, the main focus was to be full contact training dealing with realistic attacks and strict adherence to Zen meditation.
Ted Hanulak began his studies in 1983, under Behrens Shihan, training for 9 years. Hanulak Sensei began teaching, evolving the art due to his own personal experiences in law enforcement and security work but always keeping true to Behrens Shihan’s philosophy in 1992. He moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1999, and opened the Sensokan Dojo Indianapolis where it continues today. Hanulak Sensei has been teaching for more than 28 years as of 2020.
