Village Therapy Works
Christine Steiner is thrilled to be a speech language pathologist on the Village Therapy Works team and have the opportunity to work with wonderful and motivated children and their families in a private practice setting. She specializes in preschool language therapy as well as receptive, expressive, and social language therapy for elementary and middle school students. She spends her mornings traveling to private preschools and elementary schools where she observes children in the classroom and work one-on-one through pull-out sessions. She encourages open communication with teachers and parents to achieve the most functional therapy for each child in his or her personal environment. She also works with their occupational therapist as a resource and consultation team for preschool teachers to promote a language rich classroom environment. In the afternoon, she heads off to the clinic to work with her ‘big kids’ to develop strategies and build confidence for successful carryover into their classroom and social environments. She is inspired everyday by her parents’ involvement and their eagerness to work with her to promote change in their child’s life.

Kristie graduated from the University of Houston with a Master of Arts in Communication Disorders. Kristie’s experience includes working in public schools, private schools, private practice, rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, early childhood intervention sites, pediatric/children’s hospital, and audiology clinics. She has performed diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to orofacial myology, pediatric (toddler/child) feeding aversion, apraxia, disorders related to cleft lip and palate, receptive language disorders, expressive language disorders, aural rehabilitation with an emphasis in intervention fluency, dysphasia, and pragmatic language disorders in infants, pre-school children, school-aged children, and adults
Kristie is the only Certified Orofacial Myologist in the city of Houston. She is also certified with the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM), holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA), is a member of the Texas Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (TSHA), was on the Convention Planning Committee for the 2011 IAOM National Convention, and previously served as Vice President of Membership in the Houston Association for Communication Disorders (HACD). Judith holds a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology from Xavier University of Louisiana, a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Houston, the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and is licensed by the State of Texas. Prior to joining SLRC in 1998, Judith worked for 5 years in a public school setting and for over 20 years in the private sector. She has had training from the Neuhaus Education Center. She also is trained by Lindamood Bell Learning Processes, Inc. in the Visualizing and Verbalizing program.
