Hawaii Potters Guild was established in 1967 by a group of potters who wanted to create a community center where people might actively “experience clay.” Since then, it has developed into a successful pottery workshop with many of its potters being involved in the neighborhood art scene.
Through a partnership with the Church of the Crossroads, whose goals include encouraging volunteerism and educational initiatives, their studio was set up in its current location. The Hawaii Potters’ Guild was founded with assistance from the University of Hawaii and the State Foundation for Culture and the Arts.
