Teotihuacan Mexican Cafe
Teotihuacan Mexican Cafe was founded several years ago in Irvington Blvd. by a dedicated Mexican couple. Importantly, the lovely pair shared the work of making tortillas, preparing the tables, cleaning the dishes and cooking orders. For this reason, their business continued growing and thriving in the market. These days around 100 members of the Teo clan help the restaurant’s daily operation. Undoubtedly, customers raved about the homecooked flavor of tortillas, soft and juicy fajitas, their Caliente Shrimp, and the flavorful parrilada.

Owners Chef Hugo Ortega and Tracy Vaught work together to maintain Caracol’s charm. The name caracol was coined by Chef Hugo which holds a fun memory of preparing conch ceviche with his brother. Their menu depicts a culinary journey around coastal towns of Mexico. Firstly is the crudos and cocteles y escabeches that are perfect for a light chat amidst the sea. On the other hand, antojitos are bite-size streetfoods, while sopas y ensaladas are soups and salads of seasonal produce. Meanwhile, the main dish is called Plato Fuertes, and the Del Horno are collection of whole roasted fish and short ribs. Furthermore, wood-roasted Gulf oysters with chipotle butter are named ostiones asados which can be paired with the postres or desserts. Cuchara was built in the 1940s and home to The Hyde Supermarket. The brick building was converted into a bistro on September 15, 2012, in between Fairview and Taft. Its design was a combination of ideas of Charlie McDaniel, Ana Beaven, and Jim Herd. They personally curated pieces that were now displayed in the restaurant to give an authentic Mexican vibe. The bistro serves savory brunch and dinner meals which are prepared heartily to ease Mexican specials cravings. Meanwhile, the cocktails are a creation of Chris Frankel. Lopez Mexican Restaurant has a humbling beginning started by its founder Rodrigo López. Rodrigo is an immigrant from Mexico and upon his arrival at the United States in 1962, he opted to try out his luck in the restaurant business. Without any background in business, he established the restaurant in 1978 hoping it can help with their daily needs. With faith and perseverance, Rodrigo together with his wife Bertha, sons Jose, Jonathan and daughter Ana worked hard to achieve their dream of success. In particular, their mission is to consistently attain cleanliness, great customer service, and offer delectable Mexican offerings.
Without a doubt, the small food joint has grown, that they have converted their banquet hall into a drive-thru area. Apart from this, they had inaugurated their churro food truck named “Dulce de Lopez”.
