Oakland United Beerworks
Oakland United Beerworks was founded in 2009 as Linden Street Brewery, they became the primary community-based manufacturing brewery in Oakland since Golden West Brewery shut down in the 1950s. They take pride in the fact that they were the first of numerous craft brewers to restart production brewing in Oakland.
Oakland is and has always been a beer town, where hard-working people would congregate to enjoy freshly made beer from their own local breweries. Its many neighborhood-based breweries earned Oakland the nickname “Milwaukee of the West” as the area’s population increased during the Gold Rush and the construction of the Transcontinental Railway. After World War II, many relocated to the suburbs from the city center, and Oakland’s brewing industry came to an end.
