Mama Woo’s BBQ was established in 2003 after Mama Woo and her eldest daughter, Kris, made the decision to open a business. The portions are very very generous and the price is really reasonable. The seating is limited along with the hard-to-find parking spot but if you can find parking you should definitely drop in here for some food. They also do catering if you are trying to have some Korean food for a party.”

Guava Smoked was launched by participating in the neighborhood Farmers’ Markets and significant outdoor events for the first 2.5 years, renting time at a kitchen incubator for new restaurants, and selling plate lunches and bowls for customers to test. On Kauai, where they hunt and smoke wild pigs using the invasive strawberry guava wood, also known as wai’awi, his brother-in-law and his father provided the original recipe.
After ten years of teaching high school, they are planning to launch a business and have requested permission to use this recipe. A month before the pandemic struck, they opened their second site in Kapahulu, and thanks to the community’s support during a crucial time, they are still operating today.
