Mar Vista Recreation Center
Mar Vista Recreation Center is placed at the intersection of Palms and Sawtelle. Their special features include a roller hockey rink, seasonal swimming pool, baseball diamonds, auditorium, picnic areas, playground, outdoor basketball courts, and gymnasium. Moon bounce permits will be issued for picnic areas number 3 and 4.
The recreation building including restrooms will be unlocked during facility hours only and will be locked at all other times. Their instructors, staff, and volunteers offer a variety of programs and activities for the community. Jensen’s Recreation Center
Jensen’s Recreation Center was built by the late Henry Christian Jensen in 1924. It was one of the numerous buildings built by Jensen in the course of a decade. He was a German immigrant that made his luck making bricks for the quickly growing city of early 20th century Los Angeles. His business endeavors often blended entertainment and shopping and were ancestors to today’s shopping malls or entertainment complexes such as Universal City Walk. In the beginning, the three-story Jensen Recreation Center had a row of the bowling alley, shops, and a pool hall at street level, and 46 apartments on the top two levels.
