Love the customer service here. Walked in – immediately was greater and helped me find a tool I needed. The gentleman even compared it without the other tools there to make sure I wasn’t overpaying for what I needed. Pricing was good too. – Alic H.

I cannot tell you the joy this place brings me! Let’s be clear, I geek out on this stuff, and would happily spend a rainy day in a hardware store, but they have everything! I needed some zip ties; they have a wall of them! The other thing I love is I can come in with a weird request – “I’m trying to do X and can’t figure out how.” They’ll take the time to figure the project out with me and the best approach. It seems like they enjoy a periodic challenge. – Ben Emmert-Aronson
Cole Hardware is one of the oldest and most reliable hardware stores in San Francisco when it first opened its doors to Cole Valley residents in the 1920s. Dave Karp procured the store in 1959 and ran it as a one-man army in a tiny space that is now the main warehouse and storage area for their Cole Street branch. Mr. Karp’s methods in running the business can be summed up by the sign he put by the cash register, having the motto of “There are no strangers here, just friends we haven’t met”, a clear projection of the store’s personalized customer service.

Best find this year! Love lil old hardware stores and finding unique hard to find tools or accouterments. I prefer picking up my wish orders here too close to my man’s house than me downtown. – Stella Tatola
