Ruth’s Chris Steak House, since 1965, they’ve stuck to the same recipe for success that was created by the founder, Ruth Fertel: warm hospitality, perfect steaks, and good times that never stop rolling. In 1965, a time when most women could not even apply for a bank card without their husband’s signature, Ruth Fertel risked it all and mortgaged her home to buy a small steak house in New Orleans.
As a single mom with two boys, she taught herself the restaurant business, endured numerous challenges, and in the process, redefined hospitality. When a kitchen fire destroyed Chris Steak House in 1976, she was forced to relocate her business, but the Chris Steak House name wasn’t allowed to come along. Short on time, Ruth improvised, adding her own name to the sign. That made it “Ruth’s Chris Steak house” and their legendary name was born.

Wood Ranch

The Wood Ranch in Agoura Hills started in 1995. Two years later, the company opened in Camarillo, right off the 101 north. In 1992, Ofer and Eric formed Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill in Moorpark, CA.
