Life Storage is a global leader in self-storage. In 1982, the company started out as a financial planning service, but by 1985, it had opened its first self-storage facility in Florida. It had bought roughly 30 locations throughout the East Coast in three years, and 62 facilities over the next decade. Life Storage was once known as Sovran Self Storage, Inc., and operated under the brand name “Uncle Bob’s Self Storage” until the late 1980s.
