Beach PubPubs in Virginia Beach

Beach Pub offers a variety of fresh, local seafood. Their fried flounder, which is the signature dish, is available every night for dinner as well as a lunch special on Mondays and Fridays. In Virginia Beach, at 404 Laskin Road, The Beach Pub debuted in 1978. Buddy Barco and Harry Smithson opened it. The eatery, which offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner, became a favorite among many locals. Harry’s wife, kids, and two daughters all worked at the pub, as did Buddy’s two daughters, so it has always been a family business.

The Beach Pub relocated in 1983 to 1001 Laskin Road, where it is now. Harry wished to spend more time with his family in 1996, so he decided to quit the bar. The pub’s other half was purchased by Buddy’s daughters and their husbands. The family business is still going strong because Buddy’s grandchildren are now employed. When it comes to Harry, he continues to frequent the pub practically daily and is a wonderful patron.

“Great place for seafood. Very friendly staff. Diner drive-ins and dives were here. Highly recommend the soft-shell crab dinner. It is a very tasty crab with a great batter on the outside. Ordered the clams Rockefeller for an appetizer and was not disappointed. Would recommend reservations during busy dinner times as can be a wait.” – Sean W.

The Bunker BrewpubOne of the best Pubs in Virginia Beach

The Bunker Brewpub is Virginia Beach’s top destination for excellent seafood, unique artisan brews, and live entertainment. On September 7th, 2013, Young Veterans Brewing Company opened its doors. Neil McCanon and Thomas Wilder, two Army veterans, realized their dream of starting and running a craft brewery. After five years in business and the production of more than 60 unique craft brews, they set out on a mission to offer something genuinely unique to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront with the help of their new buddy Chris Holyfield.

The bunker officially started at that point! A kid- and family-friendly eatery serving up the flavors of southern coastal cuisine, including their renowned Virginia Beach hot chicken sandwich and seafood spaghetti, burgers, and crab cakes. Naturally, no brewpub would be complete without a small-batch brewery where that experiment with ingredients to produce innovative and interesting craft beer varieties.

“So I never leave reviews but I just had to. First time here and didn’t want to stop eating. The food was very good! You can tell that some thought went into this menu. Very satisfied with the service as well. This will be my new spot when I’m out at the oceanfront. I got the blackened tuna tacos with the black beans on the side. Highly recommend.” – Jeremy A.
