The House of Clay
The House of Clay is a family-owned and managed business. Norman and Levern Meriwether- In business for more than 60 years, The House of Clay is an essential part of the history of Oklahoma City and has been owned by the Meriwether family since 1950. Norman and Levern Meriwether, with the wisdom of ceramics from their work with Tamac Pottery, purchased an already thriving business, The House of Clay, located at 2416 N. Western, from a resolve partnership. in 1950 was a lively year for Norman and Levern.
The House of Clay China Shop was located in a remodeled house next door to the ceramic shop along with a satellite shop on the I-35 service road near Brittain Road. The china painting business was greatly successful for the Meriwether’s until the tides turned when china importers began selling directly to the public, virtually eliminating the business distributors. Pottery is another form of art that has seized its turn in the ceramic shop and they still sell thousands of pounds of clay to ceramists and potters along with tools, kilns, glazes, brushes, and potter’s wheels.

Paint N Station
Paint N Station is a walk-in, paint-your-own-pottery studio for artists of all ages. They do not take reservations. They are located in Oklahoma City and have been in business for over 27 years. They have an enormous sort of pottery pieces to select from including kitchen and garden accessories, picture frames, vases, figurines, holiday ware and so much more. It is $7 per painter for day by day spent at the shop which covers teaching hours, paint, glaze, and firing, plus the cost of the pottery piece(s). Pottery is normally ready for pick up 8-10 days after painting. They also have canvases available to paint as well.

Ceramics by Liz
Ceramics by Liz is established by Liz Boudreaux, a rising ceramic artist, with a BFA from the University of Central Oklahoma. Her work has been highlighted in galleries around Oklahoma, also regionally, and nationally. Most of her work is wheel-thrown and neatly decorated, intended for use and to bring people together. Outside of the studio, the ceramist is very concerned within the arts community through volunteerism and enjoys time with her toddler Charlie and husband Henry. Her works serve to contribute to the user’s daily life.
Whether a cup of coffee in the morning or a flower vase on the table, the pieces amplify their experiences of dining and relationships. Functional forms are thrown on the wheel, then decorated with carving and additions of clay. The decoration is persuaded by a diversity of organized and repetitive lines, including intricate cakes and architecture.
