Electric Banana
Electric Banana was a nightclub that operated from 1977 to 1999. It was originally a disco and was situated at 3887 Bigelow Boulevard in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood. It held its first “punk” show in 1979, and by 1980, it was the only venue for the punk rock/new wave scene. Hardcore and metal eventually made their way in. Johnny and Judy Zarra, referred to by customers as Johnny and Judy Banana, are its proprietors and operators. It is now Zarra’s, an Italian restaurant.
Once the music of Carsickness, the Cardboards, Black Flag, Half-Life, and the Five shook the premises, the food was excellent, the inside had been remodeled, the décor had changed, and the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, and Dean Martin waft through the air.

Tiki Lounge
Tiki Lounge is situated on Pittsburgh’s eclectic and historic southside, where there are over 40 bars and clubs within a 10-block radius, in addition to a large number of eateries, independent small businesses, and art galleries.
