Great Plains Nature Center

Pracht Wetlands Park
Pracht Wetlands Park, with raised boardwalks, dense foliage, and bird-blind structures, Pracht Wetlands Park, one of the last remaining wetlands in the Midwest, offers a safe haven for migratory birds, muskrats, frogs, and many other wildlife species. It also gives visitors a sensory experience.
The land was first utilized by the Pracht family for farming and duck hunting, and it was formerly known as Cadillac Lake. The Slawson Companies, who purchased the property from the family, gave 56 acres to the City of Wichita. The Park has received honors from the American Planning Association, the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the 2019 KRPA Innovative Program Award.

Air Capital Memorial Park Singletrack
Air Capital Memorial Park Singletrack is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers that construct and cares for bicycle trails in south-central Kansas. Both riding and hiking are permitted on their trails. In collaboration with nearby landowners, KSS Trail Stewards and volunteers create each of their paths according to specific specifications.

Pawnee Prairie Park
Pawnee Prairie Park, near the Tex Consolver Golf Course and Eisenhower National Airport is a 400-acre natural parkland area with amenities and pathways for equestrians, cyclists, and hikers. While hikers are free to roam and explore, equestrians and bicycles have designated roads and trails within the park. To assist users in locating their trails, planning their trips, and understanding trail etiquette, five educational kiosks have been placed in strategic locations.
Please take a moment to become acquainted with the many paths and acceptable uses. Keep in mind that everyone must always give way to horses. Special signs have been placed all across the park to make it simple to share your location, track your mileage, and discover what activities are permitted and prohibited where you are.

Prairie Sunset Trail
Prairie Sunset Trail is a rails-to-trails-inspired public route that was built for hiking, running, and biking. From Garden Plain to S, the trail travels for 15 miles via Goddard. The Hoover Road in Wichita. Their objective is to create a trail that is fun for people of all ages and serves as a venue for teaching kids about Kansas’s natural treasures.
