Adair Funeral Homes
Adair Funeral Homes was founded in 1956 by Arthur J. and Martha J. Adair. Arthur had been working in the funeral industry in Tucson for 18 years and has a degree in mortuary science from the California College of Mortuary Science. The initial site, at 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. in Tucson, was deemed to be too far out of town to “make a go” of it. However, due to Mr. and Mrs. Adair’s outgoing and sympathetic personalities, as well as their strict standards of service to every family, the funeral home grew swiftly, and today, around 1000 families are served annually from this main location.
The Adairs bought a magnificent old Spanish estate on Tucson’s northwest side in November 1972 and began renovating it for their second site. Mr. Adair, however, never got to see it finished since he died on June 5, 1973, following a long and difficult struggle with cancer. However, Martha and her sons and daughters persisted, and in 1974, the second facility opened for business. This chapel, which first opened its doors in 1984, continues to serve Tucson’s northwest side as well as other towns north of the city.

Hudgel’s Swan Funeral Home
Hudgel’s Swan Funeral Home has been a family-owned and operated funeral home since 1964. Services for funerals and cremations are available. In times of need, the Hudgels have a long history of aiding families. For almost 50 years and three generations, they’ve been treating families the way they’d like to be treated. Richard Hudgel, their grandfather, founded our first Hudgel family funeral home in Iowa in the 1930s.
Their father, Edwin, carried on the family heritage by building the first Arizona Hudgel funeral home in Wilcox in 1959. He relocated to Tucson in 1964, bought land, and established the Hudgel family funeral home at 1335 South Swan Road, which still remains today.
