Dr. Avie Grunspan has been a full-time practicing physician since 1983. What sets him apart from others is the amount of time he spends with his patients. This allows the time necessary for information gathering and affords the opportunity to understand each individual’s issues and concerns. In addition, he spends ample time educating his patients about their condition and arriving at treatment goals which are mutually set.
Dr. Grunspan is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. He pursued his interest in biology and chemistry at Case Western Reserve University and the University of Cincinnati, where he consistently made Dean’s List and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. In 1977, he studied Spanish and immersed himself in Mexican culture spending the next 4 years in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he met his wife who just happened to work for the University. While there he obtained his MD degree in 1981.
Currently, Dr. Grunspan practices adult sleep medicine and lectures extensively about sleep to local and national medical organizations. He speaks to local community groups and industry about the importance of sleep for their health and productivity. He also has several podcasts on local radio shows on various sleep subjects. He is clinical assistant professor with the University of Incarnate Word School of Medicine and Osteopathy in the field of sleep medicine.

Dr. Andry has held numerous medical directorships and chairmanships at local hospitals in pulmonary medicine, respiratory therapy, intensive care and hyperbarics/wound care. He is currently a clinical faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Allied Health and Family Medicine. He has worked with faculty at the Dental School UTHSCSA in assisting in the development of their Dental Sleep Medicine Program. Dr. Tarak Patel is the first in his family to become a doctor. His journey started when he was attending the University of Texas at Austin where he received a degree in biology. While in Austin, he participated in volunteer organizations, many of which focused on children. He attended medical school at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX, for his first two years and completed his clinical years in El Paso. Being close to the border, he improved his Spanish-speaking skills and solidified his interest in pediatric lung diseases, in particular, asthma. With a strong interest in children’s health, he went to the University of Texas at Houston to complete his training in general pediatrics. While there he realized his passion for traveling and volunteer work. Prior to attending his pediatric pulmonary fellowship, he spend a good part of a year traveling the world visiting sites and volunteering in various places in India.
He completed his fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in which he received additional training in sleep medicine. It was during his fellowship that he met his wife, who was training in internal medicine/pediatrics.

Most of the complaints from other locations are not even valid honestly because HIPAA prevents mailing your results and the population density ensures you won’t be the only patient with a sleep study on any given day. The staff was absolutely wonderful, facilities were nice and clean, they had coffee, tea and snacks for the morning and two restrooms so waiting in the morning wasn’t an issue. Paperwork was emailed prior to be filled out at your convenience, brought in the day of with minimal additional paperwork at check in and check out. San Antonio Sleep Center
Dr. Brown graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He received his residency training in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and is Board Certified. Upon completion of residency, Dr. Brown joined the practice in 1996. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and has served as Clinical Faculty for the Christus Santa Rosa Family Residency. Dr. Brown is also Board Certified in Sleep Medicine. He is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Brown sees patients at our Northwest and Southeast locations. He sees patients for evaluation and diagnosis of sleep disorders as well as adults and children for general ENT issues. He also has a special interest in endocrine surgery.
