Prince Harry breaks his silence on how he and Meghan came to the decision to step back from royalty. The British royalty says he and his wife had “no other option” but to turn back from being senior members of the British monarchy.
At a recent charity dinner, Prince Harry delivered a speech explaining that he and Meghan initially intended to carry on serving the monarchy without being publicly funded. “Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible,” he said at the event held of his charity Sentebale in London. “I’ve accepted this, knowing that it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am. But I hope that helps you understand what it had come to, that I would step my family back from all I’ve ever known.”

Buckingham Palace released an announcement on Saturday officiating that Harry and Meghan will no longer be addressed with their former “royal highness” titles. They will no longer be receiving public funding in accomplishing their royal duties.
Amid criticism about the $2.4 million Frogmore Cottage renovation paid by taxpayers, the couple announced that they plan to pay back the expenses. The historical landmark will continue to serve as Meghan and Harry’s home in the United Kingdom.
