Dr. Joi Shaw Morrison is a native of Huntsville, Alabama. In 1997, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry from Fort Valley State University and subsequently became employed as a Quality Control Chemist for Vintage Pharmaceuticals in Huntsville, Alabama. In 2002, Dr. Shaw graduated in the top 10 of her dental school class from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. As a dental student at the Medical College of Georgia, she volunteered in the local soup kitchen and organized clothing and toy drives in the community. Prior to graduating from dental school, she was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. She was also active as the President of Medical College of Georgia’s chapter of the National Dental Association. Upon completion her dental degree, Dr. Joi Shaw Morrison was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Army. In 2003, she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Fort Meade, Maryland. After completing this residency, she served as a Captain and General Dentist until June of 2006 at Fort Benning, Georgia. Subsequently, Dr. Morrison entered into the Pediatric Dentistry Residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston. Dr. Bret Ibarra is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. After two years of residency, he obtained his Pediatric Dentistry certificate from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Dental Branch. Dr. Luu’s passion for working with children developed early in life, which led her into a career in dental pediatrics. She completed her pediatric dentistry residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY, during which she received extensive training in hospital and clinical pediatric dentistry.
She is an expert in dental prevention, craniofacial growth and development, pediatric oral trauma, medically complex patients, pediatric oral pathology, pediatric genetics that effect the head and neck, childhood growth and development, childhood and adolescent trauma, dental development, restorative procedures and behavior management.
