At Stellar Smiles Ortho we are in the business of creating beautiful smiles that give our patients the great oral health and aesthetics they deserve. Our fearless leader, Dr. J started this practice so he could share his 20 plus years of experience with the Dallas community and transform smiles as well as lives. Our team has a passion for creating an environment where our patients feel comfortable and cared for, and you will experience this from the moment you walk through the door. We are excited to serve a diverse family of patients and provide the high quality of orthodontic care they need to achieve the smile they’ve always wanted.

Q At what age should my child/kid see the orthodontist?

When children start to lose their baby teeth around ages 6-7 it is important to see an orthodontist to tackle these problems. It is the optimal age to fix the issues that prevent thumb sucking, nose breathing and bad bites (malocclusions) and other problems.

Q What type of treatment Can an orthodontist provide at age7?

This type of treatment has a few names but they all are focused on correcting a problem before it gets too big!

•Early Treatment (since it starts at age7

•Or Interceptive Treatment (as it “intercepts” problems before they become worse)

•Or Phase I (as Phase II would be full braces around the age of 12)

Q Thumb sucking - What are the dangers?

If it continues past that age and the child does not outgrow it, then it may very well lead to a dental and skeletal malocclusion. In other words a bad bite with displaced teeth.
