Justin Bieber has made a shocking confession. The Canadian pop superstar announced that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. The illness is caused by a bacterial infection carried by ticks.
Fans and the general public have been wondering why the singer-songwriter has been out of the spotlight for a while. Last week marked his comeback in the music scene after he dropped his single “Yummy”. But prior to this, the star has not been in the limelight. Listen to his latest track below:
Now, Bieber has revealed the reason behind this in an Instagram post. “It’s been a rough couple years,” the “Sorry” hitmaker wrote. In his statement, he explained that he was suffering from a lifelong viral infection.
The singer addressed speculation that he was suffering from drug addiction after photos of him surfaced looking sickly with blotches on his skin. In the lengthy post, Bieber pointed out that people thought he was “on meth”.
“…they failed to realise I’ve been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my skin, brain function, energy, and overall health,” he explained. Now, the star is says he is seeking “the right treatment” for the disease. More details about his life, health and music will be revealed in a forthcoming YouTube documentary series about his life.
“You can learn all that I’ve been battling and OVERCOMING!!” he wrote as an assurance to fans and his 124 million followers on Instagram. He then promised that he “I will be back and better than ever”.
