Caruso’s was started in the 1930s by Nicasio (Caruso) Zagona, and the restaurant has remained in the family since then. Throughout the years, some alterations have been made to the restaurant’s interior. Of course, they now have more efficient equipment, but the processes for creating ravioli, lasagna, manicotti, and cannelloni, as well as their homemade sauces, remain essentially the same.
The “huge copper pot,” which can be seen from the main dining room, is the beating heart of the establishment. Since their arrival in Tucson, this pot has held all of the Caruso sauce they’ve had. They are confident that the sauce from this pot, as well as everything else at Caruso’s, will be as wonderful as it was when served by the master chef himself, “Caruso.”

“Love Caruso’s. It’s a downtown Tucson classic. Been here for many decades. Inside is old school Italian dining and outside is nice patio shaded dining. Pizza is great but go for the Lasagna or Shrimp and clams “Adriatic”. Needs a little “modernization”, but I still go here all the time and love it!” – Victor Bellino
Renee’s Tucson has a reputation and commitment to serving a menu of excellent quality. Since March 2020, they’ve been offering takeout and delivery. “A real Mom and Pop restaurant. Special homemade salad dressing is unique and flavorful. Nicest people that you ever want to meet. The service is the best. I like the option of olive oil or butter for your warm bread.” – Saul Ostroff
