Esther’s Kitchen was a strong, smart, realistic type who cared about people and offered good advice. “She was a big help to my mom when I was maturing, and that was great,” Trees’ remarks. “She was there for us all the time.” Esther composed the check that sent Chef Trees off to the CIA -after all, someone had to pull him out of Alfio’s kitchen. And when she died in 2016 she left James savings – the money he required to eventually open his own restaurant.
The restaurant is titled in her honor for all of this, and because everybody hopefully has someone like Aunt Esther. Whomever that person was for you when you step in the door they want you to feel like you are at their house. They want you to feel attended for.
