Dr. Dowling was born and raised in San Diego. He graduated from University of San Diego High School in 1981. He attended U.C.S.D. and received Bachelor of Science degrees in Bioengineering and Animal Physiology. He continued his post-graduate education at U.C.S.D and received his Doctor of Medicine in 1991. While in medical school, during his Obstetrics and Gynecology rotation, he was inspired by art of caring for pregnant women and loved bringing new life into the world. With his passion decided, Dr. Dowling was accepted into the University of Utah OB/GYN residency training program. It was here that he became fascinated by the medical challenges experienced by many pregnant women. He ultimately decided to focus his training on high risk obstetrics and pursued a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at U.C. Irvine.
Dr. Dowling began practicing medicine in Los Angeles in 1997, but he returned to work in San Diego area just one year later. He has been a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist in the community ever since. Dr. Dowling lives in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego and he is a dedicated husband and father of 4 children.
