Karolynn is a native New Yorker. After finishing a degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, she earned her MD degree from Temple University School of Medicine and finished her OB/GYN residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami where she first met Debbie.

She went on to complete a 3-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) at LSUHSC in New Orleans and then worked as the Chief of Gynecology and Assistant Professor at LSUMC in Lafayette, LA for three years. In the fall 2005, her and Dr. Debbie Chong co-founded Medicine in Action where the inaugural mission to Jamaica was held in December of that same year.

She has also traveled extensively to Niger and Rwanda as a medical mission leader and volunteer. She was the Fellowship Director of FPMRS at Cooper University Hospital/Cooper Medical School of Rowan University up until 2016. Currently she is the Director of FPMRS at Thomas Jefferson University and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University and honorary consultant at the University of West Indies, Mona Campus, as she teaches urogynecology annually to the faculty, residents and students in their Ob/Gyn department.

She most recently became board-certified in Integrative Medicine after completing a 2-year fellowship from the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine and plans to utilize her acquired knowledge in resource-limited countries in the future.
