Florent Sekouo talks about buying and selling on Allist

Since the start of the internet it has become the biggest marketplace in the world, allowing people to buy and sell things overseas and locally with ease. Florent Sekouo is making this even easier for their customers with their buying and selling app Allist for Android and Apple’s iOS.

Florent answered some questions about his business.

What inspired you to start Allist?

I wanted to create something useful for the local community and this inspired me to make an application to help people with selling or buying anything, easily and locally. I have always wanted to connect people around their neighbourhood and beyond to buy and sell second hand things instead of throwing them away. Allist is still a small marketplace and we believe our local community will grow progressively.

What are some challenges you faced early and how did you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges is funding. I have had to work hard and invest my time, money and everything that I have to make it happen because, to acquire potential investors, your app needs to have a lot of permanent users. As downloads and users grow, it becomes more and more critical to make decisions on any level. That’s why I always ask myself “does the change help us grow?” The best way to overcome any difficulties is to be proactive.

What are the most popular items people buy and sell on Allist?

Spring and summer are the periods most people think about the best things to sell on Allist. Popular categories like electronics and furniture are always on sale on Allist app. However, 30% on average cars sell well too. Just make sure you take a great photo of it and list it with a fair price. People also sell clothes, shoes and bags they don’t wear anymore. All sort of sport equipment sells well on Allist too. The local selling app Allist has made it so easy to sell or buy stuff in your neighbourhood that we understand why almost everyone is using it.

On what platforms is Allist available?

Allist is a pretty straightforward app that you can download for free to either your phone or tablet on the Play Store and App Store that will allow you to list stuff you want to sell. Also, the app is free to use.

What are your future plans for the app?

Allist, one of the best the mobile marketplaces for buying and selling locally, will expand its sights beyond your neighbourhood with more trust and improvement. In the future, we are going to expand our services so that it will allow sellers to ship their items nationwide to interested buyers. We are not sure yet about how we will implement the feature in the app, but the new feature will be in the new version of the Allist app for IOS and Android.

Do you have any tips for other new app makers out there?

Whether you are a new startup or an ambitious entrepreneur, my advice is to be prepared emotionally and financially. You will face new challenges every day and have to find new ways to stimulate your mind. Even if you fail, you will walk away with new skills and more experience you never had before. If you want to make an app to help people’s life, take the leap and make the application you have always wanted. The only thing that can stop you is your mindset.
