Year of the FishFish and Chips in Portland

Year of the Fish isn’t just a fish and chip food truck. It’s more akin to a seafood cart that serves fish and chips. In this small diner, the clam chowder is the main attraction. They have a decent menu with some excellent seasonal specials. Clam Chowder (New England), Albacore Tuna Salad, Cole Slaw, Tartar Sauce, Cocktail Sauce, Fish Batter, and rough-cut Plank Style Chips are all made by hand in the cart.

Local purveyors are whom they do business with. I try to buy fish as close to home as feasible. They recycle as much as they can and only use compostable paper. In the deep fryers, I use canola oil and sea salt, the actual salt of the earth.

“We had a fantastic dinner today at Seasons & Regions. We started of with drinks, Toddy for me, and my wife got Caribbean Painkiller, both were refreshing. As for the food, we had smoked salmon tater tots for an appetizer, tomato basil bisque soup, chowder. For the entree, I got the NW seafood sampler, and my wife got the Asian Salmon stir fry.
