Year of the Fish
Year of the Fish isn’t just a fish and chip food truck. It’s more akin to a seafood cart that serves fish and chips. In this small diner, the clam chowder is the main attraction. They have a decent menu with some excellent seasonal specials. Clam Chowder (New England), Albacore Tuna Salad, Cole Slaw, Tartar Sauce, Cocktail Sauce, Fish Batter, and rough-cut Plank Style Chips are all made by hand in the cart.
Local purveyors are whom they do business with. I try to buy fish as close to home as feasible. They recycle as much as they can and only use compostable paper. In the deep fryers, I use canola oil and sea salt, the actual salt of the earth.
“The best fish and chips we’ve had in years. The coating was very well seasoned and crispy. Very good-sized portions and the guys in the cart were very friendly. This was our first visit to this cart but it sure won’t be our last.” – Rod E.
Tall Boy Fish & Chips

They provide line-caught Alaskan wild fish, a special cabbage salad with golden raisins and fresh mango, as well as seasonal specialties like clam chowder and the Tall Lemon, a cocktail created with fresh-squeezed lemonade, mint, and jalapeno.

“The new Tall Boy just opened at the Assylum off Hawthorne. Just finished a five-piece cod/chips with my wife and they were excellent. Crispy seasoned fries, light cole slaw with cilantro, and a refreshing jalapeno lemonade. Yummy and very clean in that truck. Highly recommended. Michael.”
