Terry Hershey Hike and Bike Trail is a popular hiking and biking trail that runs along east to west along Western Houston’s Buffalo Bayou. It has over ten miles of trail for cyclists and hikers that start from Barker Dam to the Texas Beltway 8. The trail park has amenities like playgrounds, picnic grounds, exercise stations, and restrooms. Park-goers can park at different parking lots along the trail like on Beltway 8 (east of the trail), Dairy Ashford Road (southern side of the bayou), and Highway 6 (located at the west end of the trail). Hikers and cyclists have a lot of good things to say about this trail namely it being pleasant and clean and for being a great ride for bike owners.

Brays Bayou Park

Brays Bayou Park is a trail part of Bayou Greenways 2020, a regional effort led by the Houston Parks Board that aims to have over 150 miles of trails run throughout Houston within the year. Houston has done a great job in developing this trail, as before it was a rough patch of land that was hard for cyclists and hikers to go through. It is still under development, but it is slowly getting together into becoming possibly one of the best and nicest trails in the state. You can access the trail through public transportation via the METRO rail. Bikes are permitted on the trains so cyclists will have a blast riding the trail.

Seymour Lieberman Exercise Trail is a great choice if you are searching for a loop trail. This 2.9-mile exercise trail is mostly occupied by a lot of people. It offers beautiful nature paths lined up with granite. The trail is well-lit and has restrooms and water fountains along the way for those who didn’t bring water bottles. This trail is easily accessible from all parts of the Memorial Park, and you can see the gradual improvements, with new trees being planted to develop the park even further since the drought of 2011 happened.
