Henry C. Palmisano Nature Park
Henry C. Palmisano Nature Park is previously known as Stearns Quarry, is a 26.60-acre site on Chicago’s southwest side at the center of the Bridgeport community. Its story is one of transformation, as it has converted from coral reefs to quarry to landfill to park. Not surprisingly, each embodiment played a major role in developing the next.
This is a dynamic park, with a fishing pond, preserved quarry walls, interpretive wetlands trails, an athletic field, a running track, and a hill that offers dramatic views. Over 1.7 miles of paths, including concrete walls, recycled timber boardwalks, a crushed stone running path, and metal grating walkways traverse the park.

North Park Village Nature Center
North Park Village Nature Center is situated on the northwest side of Chicago, North Park Village Nature Center features 46-acre nature conservation and educational facility, located within the 155-acre North Park Village campus. The nature preserve provides trails that wind through woodland, wetland, prairie, and savanna. A discovery room, a hands-on table of natural objects, and collaborative displays are highlights of the Nature Center.
Additional to the Nature Center and preserve, visitors can also enjoy the tour through Walking Stick Woods, a 12-acre woodland with trails and nodes designed for nature play. The objective of the North Park Village Nature Center is to give visitors an opportunity to interact with and learn about wildlife and natural resources in an urban setting.

West Ridge Nature Park
West Ridge Nature Park is located along the northwestern edge of Rosehill Cemetery is a proud inclusion to the community. The park was advanced into an amazing nature preserve filled with new native plants, a fishing area. And boardwalks, check out the 21.23 acres of rehabilitated woodland, 4.5-acre pond, multipurpose trail around the park with lifted up overlook, educational and interpretive signage for easy recognition of plantings, planting of native trees and plants, fishing stations and wildlife viewing opportunities, educational and interpretive signage, perimeter fence around the property and so much more.

Lakefront Trail Terminus
Lakefront Trail Terminus greets residents and visitors from all over the City. On any given day bustle along the pedestrian and bike trails incorporates people commuting to work, caregivers with children in strollers, training for marathons, tourists on rental bikes, and people taking a leisurely stroll. Running from Ardmore Ave. on the north, to 71st St. on the south, the trails offer important access to the lake for recreational purposes and have growingly become an active transportation route for many Chicagoans.
The trails are open during usual operating hours. In 2018 the trail disconnection project was completed, dividing the former 18-mile combined use trail into an 18-mile Bike Trail and 18.5-mile Pedestrian Trail, alleviating congestion and giving a better overall park experience along Chicago’s lakefront.
