Ladyfingers Letterpress is an LGBTQ+ owned and operated stationery and gift business based in Colorado Springs, CO, formed by designer/printmaker pair Arley Torsone and Morgan Calderini. They started the company in 2011 after their own wedding invitation went viral, and it rapidly became very busy designing one-of-a-kind wedding invites for the most imaginative and beautiful clients. After the weddings, the clients would return and inquire about letterpress cards for holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions.
As a result, they decided to debut a modest line of greeting cards at the 2013 National Stationery Show, and to their surprise, the line took off, and their products are currently carried in over 800 retailers worldwide. They opened their main store in Colorado Springs in 2016, where they also organize conferences and classes and sell boutique stationery and locally-made items.
Customers can view the presses running and the products being manufactured from this site, where they run the letterpress and design offices. Current began in 1950 at the foot of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, at Orin and Miriam Loo’s home. Orin, an artist, and printer ran a little publishing company, and Miriam felt the postcards he made would be a wonderful fundraiser. Miriam initiated a mail-order campaign to 500 ministers, requesting that their church groups sell the postcards. Her campaign was a huge success, and the family quickly expanded into producing a full line of beautifully designed greeting cards, recipe cards, and other paper items. Current is now a direct marketing firm with over 13,000 products and millions of customers.
