Echo Shop was an idea by the incredible working mother-of-four Joanne Wilkinson. In 1968, the business opened its doors with $200 and a cigar box in place of a cash register. Echo rapidly became the go-to place for well-heeled Tulsans looking to make a profit on last season’s wardrobe and high fashion fans looking for a bargain. Echo Man opened in 1990 to allow guys in on Tulsa’s most dapper deal. Uptown Cheapskate opened in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2009, although the idea for a stylish resale apparel store for teens and young adults had been simmering for years.
