REVIEWS:

“Anchor is my favorite Fish and Chips place in Minneapolis! Every order of fish is hand battered and fried to order ensuring you only get the highest quality of food. Their portions are very generous and the food is top-notch! Their house-made tartar sauce is killer and I always make sure to get two of them with my order one for the fish and another to dip my fries into! You can also order ahead and have hot fresh fish waiting for you to bring home or to one of the many breweries around like Dangerous Man down the street.” – Chuck P.

Smack ShackTop Seafood Restaurants in Minneapolis

Smack Shack, even though named for the boats used to catch lobster, Smack Shack was launched as a food truck in 2010 serving lobster rolls from a land-locked downtown Minneapolis parking lot. The owner Josh Thoma had a great recipe and a belief that the appetite for fresh lobster in the Twin Cities was as strong as in any coastal city. With a commercial kitchen within the City of Minneapolis, and the hope to continue serving Lobster rolls through the winter months, Smack Shack developed a fortuitous and legendary partnership with The 1029 Bar in Northeast Minneapolis, where they still serve today.

Smack Shack is devoted to serving sustainable seafood and is a current partner in the Minnesota Zoo’s Fish Smart program. Sustainable seafood is wild caught or farm-raised seafood that has established practices to guarantee the long-term growth and thriving populations of seafood with limited harm to the environment.

“Had a great dinner before the Twins game this week. Bar seating, quick service including food. Jambalaya was super flavorful and has a nice spicy kick. For the record, leftovers heated up great too! The crab roll was great, fries had good seasoning. The server was friendly and timed her check-ins well. Will visit again!” – Casi B.

Please give my compliments to the back-of-house employees as well as whoever you purchase your meats from!! “Five stars for the cafe, selection of seafood and cheese, and the always friendly/helpful staff. Today, I tried the cafe’s cobia fish sandwich. The fish fillet was grilled perfectly and I was pleasantly surprised that fries came with the sandwich. I usually order the salmon Rueben or fish tacos and was happy to switch it up. 10/10 per usual. Furthermore, all the packaging including the small ketchup container is made of compostable material.” – April G.
