Metro Pizza
Metro Pizza was founded in 1905. The very first pizzeria in the U.S was founded by Gennaro Lombardi. It was on Spring Street, in the center of Little Italy, New York. Their ancestors were fortunate enough to live barely 50 yards away when they immigrated to America. Pizza has always been at the heart of their family’s life, dating back to those early days. His parents’ first employment was pouring coal into the enormous bakery ovens where Sicilian pizzas were made and delivered to hungry immigrant households. The time-honored talents of the Pizzaiolo, or pizza chef, have been passed down from generation to generation over the years.
