Steve DeBenedetti-Emanuel, LMFTGood Marriage Counselling in Sacramento

Steve DeBenedetti-Emanuel, LMFT, in his teens and early 20s, realize that he desired to work with people, but he wasn’t positive how it would look. After finishing college at Santa Clara University, he did a year of volunteer work at a day shelter for homeless men. Although he loved the work, he was eventually worn down by the ongoing poverty he witnessed, and he struggled with some anxiety and depression. After trying to figure things out on his own, he realized he needed a counselor’s help. And over time, he felt a lot less depressed and anxious. One day, his therapist said to him, “Have you ever thought about being a therapist? I believe you’d enjoy it and be really good at it.” And the lightbulb went off. he had his career path.

The road to licensure was long, but it provided him the opportunity to gain experience counseling in a variety of settings. He worked in several elementary and high schools and several community counseling agencies. These provided him with the opportunity to develop his skills in helping people cope with diverse issues, such as depression, anxiety, interpersonal problems, parenting challenges, and academic struggles. Much of his work today is focused on helping adolescents and adults with these challenges.
