REVIEWS:

“Five stars for the cutest place for kiddo clothes, accessories, games, etc. I already knew I was going to spend some money when I googled ‘kid clothing stores’ in Portland. This place was surprisingly affordable for what they offer – high-quality, sometimes handmade pieces. Well done; take my money.” – Casey C.

Mako the Childrens ShopTop Kids Clothing in Portland

Mako the Childrens Shop, originally from Tokyo, Japan sisters Mako (mah-koh) and Yoko (yo-koh) have called Portland, OR home for over 40 years. Their entrepreneurial career started by selling knits, silkscreen prints, and hand-sewn clothes at Portland’s Saturday Market. Inspired by the lack of cute and comfortable cotton clothing for Mako’s own children, their focus shifted to kids and babies. Mako the Children’s Shop was initiated in Portland’s vibrant NW 23rd Shopping District in May of 1986, offering classic, quality, and comfortable clothing along with their own brand of hand-knit items. After 35 years, they made the decision to close their physical location in October 2021, to have more flexibility and enjoy time with their families. They still love knitting for your little ones.

Their products are made by hand, small imperfections, differences in shape, and color can happen, but this is what makes each item unique. Their items become treasured keepsakes or favorite gifts to pass on. They find knitting relaxing, peaceful, and joyous. Knowing the things they create, makes people happy, makes them happy. Isn’t it wonderful what can be made with 2 sticks and string? They love receiving photos of their customer’s little ones wearing their knits.

REVIEWS:

“Mako is an awesome and adorable little store. The shopkeeper has always been so kind and accommodating, and the clothing is super high quality. My daughter’s new jeans fit amazing and will last a while cause they’re kind of long and the elastic waist is a very comfy well-made band. They have the tiniest engraved cursive words on one of the rivets, a leather logo label on the back, etc. The prices are reasonable. My two-year-old loves it in there. Toys and cute stuff. She loved it in there when she was one also. She’ll love it when she’s three.” – Lauren M.

Beanstalk Children’s Resale ClothingKids Clothing Portland

Beanstalk Children’s Resale Clothing is a domestic fashionable and trendy children’s retail store, whose origin began when harmonious friends and their 3-year-olds went on a camping trip. Carmen, the Beanstalk owner, grew up on a farm looking after animals, sewing, gardening, and repurposing just about everything. Following a profession as a naturopathic family physician, it appeared natural to go back to her origins and help families in a new and re-purposeful way.

Beanstalk was initialized in 2012 because she is encouraged by her friends’ discussion during the camping trip, with the objective of providing local families with contemporary high quality, new, and gently used children’s clothes, toys, shoes, and gear at a price they can bestow. At Beanstalk, they know children grow quickly- they have a little bean of their own. That’s why they hand-picked the whole Beanstalk stock, choosing only the best quality from their community of consignors for babies and kids sizes preemie to child size 14. And because they are “recycling” their delicately used products, Beanstalk is aiding the environment too.

“I have been shopping here for years and love it! I always find great Hanna Andersson dresses and leggings, high-quality raincoats, winter gear, and boots and pay a fraction of the price of new ones without the endless searching of thrift stores.
