Hyatt
Hyatt was established in 1957 by Jay Pritzker when he bought the Hyatt House Motel next to the Los Angeles International Airport. Jay Pritzker and his brother Donald Pritzker grew the company during the following 10 years in conjunction with other family business enterprises, transforming it into a North American management and hotel-owning conglomerate that went public in 1962.
In 1968, Hyatt International was founded and later became a distinct public firm. In 1979 and 1982, respectively, the Pritzker family business interests privatized Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation. On December 31, 2004, Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation are amalgamated under the new name Hyatt Hotels Corporation, along with a sizable chunk of the hospitality assets under the hands of Pritzker family business interests.
