Disability Rights Wisconsin
Disability Rights Wisconsin is a private, non-profit organization that advocates for the rights of disabled people throughout the state. Their goal is to help people with disabilities achieve dignity, equality, and self-determination. They work to ensure that justice is served in cases involving human and legal rights. DRW is completely independent of the government and the disability service system in order to avoid any conflicts of interest that would limit their ability to vigorously advocate for people with disabilities’ human and legal rights.
Disability Rights Wisconsin is controlled by a Board of Directors, who are assisted by Advisory Councils. These groups are made up of people with disabilities and others who are interested in disability rights. From a tiny group of six in 1977, DRW presently employs over 70 individuals. They have a terrific group of advocates who are diverse and enthusiastic about their work. DRW is Wisconsin’s authorized Protection and Advocacy group and a member of the National Disability Rights Network.

Independence First
Independence First is the first resource for people with disabilities in Metro Milwaukee. They provide over 40 different programs, classes, and services for people of all ages. Disability awareness, independent living skills, and recreation are all covered by Independence First’s programs.
