The Dance Institute of Washington was established by the former Fabian Barnes in 1987. Barnes established the organization with the task of enhancing the lives of underserved children in Washington, DC using the arts. In 1996, he withdrew from his highly acclaimed career as an expert dancer, to dedicate himself to this mission. Since DIW’s beginning, a lot of students have gone on to proficient careers with prestigious dance corporations and continued studies at top ballet glasshouses and universities.
