Asia Gourmet
Asia Gourmet is a modest Chinese fast food business run by a family in the center of downtown St. Louis. Aileen Mai and Karen Wu just re-opened the restaurant in August 2014. It was once known as Chinese Express, and it operated for nearly 30 years on Tucker Boulevard’s small corner under the watchful eye of Karen Wu and the late Nam Ngo. When the streets in St. Louis were renovated, the restaurant took steps to re-establish itself.
The new Asia Gourmet opened its doors to old and new guests alike after months of hard work and planning. Ms. Mai, Ms. Wu, and the rest of the crew relocated to a new facility a short distance south on Tucker Boulevard. The menu has been changed, and a few more Southeast Asian dishes have been added to the plate. For those who choose to eat in-house or to-go, the new store features a waiting space and lots of seating.
