Croissant D’Or Patisserie
Croissant D’Or Patisserie is a traditional French bakery situated in the heart of the French Quarter. 617 Ursulines was then bought in 1983 by the talented pastry chef Maurice Delechelle. Previous to his ownership of 617 Ursulines, Delechelle operated a European-style pastry shop called La Marquise on Chartres Street. Under Delechelle’s ownership, 617 Ursulines were modified into Croissant D’Or Patisserie. Delechelle was famous for crafting authentic patisseries, hand-made croissants, and hot cafe au laits while maintaining the Old World aura of marble top tables, white tiled ceilings, and overflowing pastry counters.
Delechelle formally retired at age 60 from Croissant D’Or in 2003, passing the restaurant ownership to a longtime New Orleans Pastry chef Gerard Marchal. Even after the ownership change, Delechelle’s old-time croissant baker Son Chau and cake decorator Phong Ouch remained a constant in Croissant D’Or’s baking.

Bakery Bar, Originally visualized as the home base for Debbie Does Doberge’s spins on the classic New Orleans birthday cake, Bakery Bar has developed into a full-service restaurant, with a nostalgic, comforting, and creative menu of snacks and shareable, entrees and desserts carried out by Chef Raven Ross and a craft cocktail program, led by Vincent Heitz and Joseph Witkowski, that sketch on history, pop culture, and touchstone experiences. Most importantly, they are a company that considers that people are the best asset to their business.
They believe that kindness is influential. They assume that each person has worth, that Black Lives Matter, that people should be paid a living wage and have a right to a safe and sympathetic workplace, and that humans are intended to do more than just work.

The Cupcake Collection
The Cupcake Collection, a trip into the home of The Cupcake Collection is an offer into the lives of the Francois family. They do their best to welcome all their customers like guests. After all, their bakery is quartered right inside the family living room. People are often surprised when they tell them that baking was never their forte. A taste of their baked from scratch, original recipe cupcakes leaves them more bewildered when they say that even baking out of a box was an impassable challenge for them prior to creating this venture.
At The Cupcake Collection, they are not trying to redefine the wheel. They are just trying to do typical things well. Their cupcakes taste handmade because they are homemade, right in the space where they raised their family and in their hometown New Orleans.
“Holy amazing cupcakes. When we stopped into the Cupcake Collection today we were instantly greeted by the absolute sweetest staff and the smell of the most amazing cupcakes. From the sweet potato cupcakes to the traditional vanilla cupcake everything was delicious.” – Melanie G.
