Oakleaf Cakes Bake Shop
Oakleaf Cakes Bake Shop was started by Amanda Oakleaf started in her Boston studio apartment’s mini-kitchen in 2008. Demand expanded quickly, and Amanda and her husband Tyler launched their first storefront in Winthrop, MA, in the spring of 2010. In 2013, the store expanded once more, this time to its current site in Boston, directly across from Symphony Hall.
They currently employ a huge and brilliant team of artists and bakers who are continually pushing the boundaries of their profession. Everything you see on the web and in the store, including all of the cakes, drinks, baked goods, and the store itself, was done by them, by hand, the old-fashioned way.
Cakes and Desserts
“Oakleaf delivered a beautiful cake for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday. I had a very specific design in mind and they delivered it even better than I had expected. There were multiple design elements including an exact replica of our dog as the cake topper that was the smash hit of the party! Some of the other details were incredible such as the stitching on the boxing gloves, logos, etc. As if that wasn’t enough, the cake itself was delicious and fresh! I really thought with all that ‘work’ going on that the cake was going to be average but it turned out to be very tasty. Overall an excellent experience from design interpretation to execution. Thanks, Oakleaf.” – Robert D.

Cakes, Pastries, Dessert
“Been going to the sweet tooth for over 8 years. I always get cupcakes for parties. They are all so so good. I personally don’t like fondant cakes so I do not order them. Even the larger cakes that I get are just icing and do some classic patterns and not characters. Give them some time to make the best pastries for you, last-minute is just too hard. Jennifer is a trooper though and is really awesome. I cannot recommend them enough.” – Kavi K.
Sweet Teez Bakery
Sweet Teez Bakery was started in 2016 by Teresa Thompson Maynard, a local Dorchester parent who grew up in Codman Square and is now raising her own children. She learned that a simple peanut can make finding a decent dessert nearly hard as she grew up with various food allergies and now raises children with the same allergies. Teresa decided to create a bakery after purchasing several baked goods and became concerned about the components. She wanted to suit her customers’ nut-free demands while also delighting their taste buds.
Teresa is a talented sculptor who has turned her passion for clay into cakes. She is a self-taught home baker with a passion for delectable delights. Teresa left her job at Harvard University in early 2016 to follow her passion for baking and decorating. Teresa, who currently works out of Commonwealth Kitchen in Dorchester, has made thousands of cakes, cupcakes, brownies, and pies for individual customers as well as wholesale and corporate clients including Whole Foods, Santander, and Babson College.

“Obsessed with the chocolate-covered cannoli with vanilla custard. I could eat one of these daily. Surprisingly the chocolate chip cookies were very soft and warm. They are in a glass jar so it’s hard to believe how soft they are. The macaroon selection is insane. I couldn’t pick just one. The chocolate eclairs were excellent and perfectly baked. The line is long, but it is totally worth it! They tie the boxes very nicely for to-go options. If visiting Boston, this is a must-visit spot.” – Didi D.
