REVIEWS:

“Very beautiful park with lots of walking trails. I wish there were more benches along the trails for less physically fit people to stop and rest on. So far, I’ve only tried walking one of the trails. The pictures are from The Black Willow Trail. I couldn’t finish the trail that day because it was VERY hot outside and the one bench I found to rest on along the trail was a scalding hot concrete bench that would burn you if you sat on it.” – Melissa Mills

Pope Lick Park

Pope Lick ParkPope Lick Park first opened its doors in 2013. It is located south of Beckley Creek Park and features the John Floyd Fields and the Park Administration Building, as well as access to Floyds Fork and the Louisville Loop. It was previously known as Floyds Fork Park. Hike the Big Beech Woods, an old-growth forest of mossy logs and understory trees with centuries-old canopies that rise over you, or stroll across the Prairie Preserve’s warm-season grassland.

The restroom is usually clean which is a huge plus compared to other park restrooms I’ve observed. The paths are beautiful and provides a wonderful experience whether you’re running, walking, or taking your dog for a walk.” – Lisa Preuett

“Well maintained and neat, this park entrance is a little off the beaten path. The parking lot has a couple of family bathrooms and a trail map. To the north/east, the loop meanders through creek bottoms while to the south, it heads through some flat wetlands until climbing over a few knobs. There is a bicycle repair station here and plenty of parking. There are a number of smaller trails in the area and plenty of birds and other wildlife. A really beautiful spot, I’d highly recommend it for a walk, run, or bike!” – Joe Chiles

The Strand

The StrandThe Strand is one of the parks managed by The Parklands. The Palisades, Walnut Grove, and Mussel Bend are just a few of the beautiful spots along the Strand, which connects The Parklands’ northern and southern parks. Here you’ll discover fossil mosaics and shady undergrowth that runs down to Floyds Fork’s canoe launch and fishing spots.
