Left Bank Books

Left Bank BooksLeft Bank Books was founded in 1969 by a group of graduate students at Washington University who wanted to create a place where people could find a variety of books. They are St. Louis’ oldest and biggest independently owned full-service bookshop, with a wide selection of new and used books, gifts, cards, periodicals, toys, and services. Throughout our 50 years, they’ve evolved and altered, but their aim has remained the same: to ignite public debate by curating an educated, relevant, and culturally diverse selection of books.

REVIEWS:

“Great local bookstore! My only complaint is that the poetry section is small and lacking, but it won’t prevent me from going back! I went looking for Scottish poetry, and left with these beauties instead :)” – Tracey Hinrichs

Subterranean Books

Subterranean BooksSubterranean Books concentrates on best-sellers from independent bookstores, small presses, timeless fiction and timely non-fiction, as well as anything else that piques their interest. Fiction, essays, poetry, music, science, nature, history, children’s, cultural studies, and memoirs are among their major themes. Journals, t-shirts, cards, buttons, tote bags, and whatever else we think you’ll like are also available. Used books, contrary to what the internet may have told you, are not available. Even though they phased out that part in 2004, they still get calls on that account on a daily basis. Other businesses in town, on the other hand, have wonderful collections of used books.
