Zubal BooksBookstores Cleveland

Zubal Books is the top buyer and seller of intellectual and rare books. They started a family business in 1961, and they are quite knowledgeable about books in all genres. Zubal Books, founded in 1961 by John T. Zubal, has been offering libraries, scholars, collectors, and voracious readers difficult-to-find and significant books on various subjects. The company was founded in the early 1950s when John, who was still in elementary school, started gathering Edgar Rice Burroughs’ publications.

John searched the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores in the Cleveland region for books to read and collect since he was fascinated by Tarzan and other Burroughs works that were virtually all out of print. He occasionally purchased duplicates, which he exchanged with like-minded readers for other desirable works. And it didn’t take long to move from exchanging books to selling extra copies for a few dollars each. These early transactions allowed him to purchase additional volumes from Cleveland’s many used book stores.

“Carol & John are great. I was new to the area last year and they made me feel really welcome in their shop. I’ve been going on and off for the past year now, but they always treat me really nice. They’re happy to help you find something or order it if it’s out of stock.” – Andrew R.

Visible Voice BooksOne of the best Bookstores in Cleveland

Visible Voice Books is a privately owned bookstore and café located in Cleveland’s Tremont district. A bookshop that retains the vibe of a long-gone independent, one that is welcoming and laid-back, encourages discovery, prioritizes quality over quantity, and provides a home for publications that have been pushed to the periphery by business interests. They have or can find everything you’re looking for if you come in with a specific request. You may become completely disoriented if you enter with no specific goals in mind.

Visible Voice Books reopened in September 2017 in the same Tremont neighborhood after a three-year hiatus, but with a new Professor Avenue address. This urban haven for voracious readers and imaginative thinkers is eager to interact with works of art, viewpoint-challenging ideas, individuals, and preferences. Visit the locally owned bookstore to learn about history or engage in a lively discussion about the present. You can also take a risk on upcoming authors or renew acquaintances with the greats.
